One definition of the word “luxurious” is “giving great pleasure”. For the past few weeks this word has been weaving itself into my daily life in unexpected ways. Another understanding of the word “luxurious” is connected to buying extravagantly for comfort. I am not talking about that kind of luxury.
For me, being luxurious can mean many things. Perhaps I put on my silk robe after a shower and take time to enjoy the feeling. Maybe I sit on my porch, close my eyes and listen to the rain. Or, I throw off my shoes on a bed of grass and connect with the earth. Luxury is setting my phone on silent and connecting with myself or someone else fully & uninterrupted.
Luxury is a feeling, not the quick rush we have when we buy something expensive. I encourage you to take the time and explore what this feels like for you and DO MORE OF THAT.
“In an age of distraction, nothing can feel more luxurious than paying attention.”
– Pico Iyer
