I love my home. It is my sanctuary—a place where I find peace, calm, and inspiration. This didn’t happen by accident. Each decoration in my home has been chosen intentionally because it makes me feel good and serves as a reminder of where I have been and where I want to go. As you read, I hope you find some inspiration for creating your own sacred space.

There was a time in my life when my space didn’t feel like my own. I felt like a visitor in my own environment. But now, every wall and every shelf holds items that I cherish, telling a story about my spiritual journey. For instance, I have a small area of my kitchen wall dedicated to my “inner child.” This space features silhouettes of my sister and me as children, along with a painting by a local artist of a little girl gazing over the sea. Naturally, there is glitter involved!

In my bedroom, I’ve blended practicality with meaning by incorporating my ritual items into the decor. My smudging feather hangs on its own hook, and I’ve displayed crystals and seashells I’ve collected from beaches around the world in clear, beautiful vessels. Another vessel contains a stone from each place I’ve visited, making it a living map of my travels and memories.

Above my kitchen sink, I’ve created a playful and inspiring space. This area holds little treasures my daughter has found—like shark teeth—and an inspirational calendar I look forward to reading every day. There are also paintings my daughter and I created together, adding a personal and joyful touch to this often-overlooked corner.

Upstairs, I’ve carved out a serene meditation space surrounded by cherished books and a giant giraffe gifted to me by my aunt. One wall displays sweet letters I’ve received over the years. Whenever I’m feeling lost or down, reading even a couple of these heartfelt notes lifts my spirits and reminds me of the love and kindness in my life.

I feel good in almost every area of my home. Creating this sacred space has been a gradual process, taking years to cultivate. Yet, I’m still discovering new ways to bring peace and joy into my surroundings. I started with one small area, and it grew from there. Now, wherever I am in my home, I am surrounded by objects that connect me to myself, my daughter, my family, and my journey.

If it doesn’t make you feel good, it doesn’t belong in your space. Start small. Find one corner, one shelf, or one wall to make your own, and let it evolve naturally. Your home should be a reflection of who you are and what makes you feel at peace. Here’s to creating your own sacred space for the new year!

Love & Light,
